NFL Week 1 recapped

First of all how great is it that the NFL is back, fall right around the corner and hoping to be in for a good year of football. I managed to get into three fantasy football leagues this year and started my year off by ending week one off with two wins and one loss. Wish I could say the same thing about my betting, but I did manage to win one parlay so didn’t do too terribly. I am only about 30$ in the negative after week 1, so all in all not terrible. I’m figuring out this website thing as I go along, but for this post I think I will break down the games one by one in the following blocks below.

  • Pats VS Seahawks
    • This game was an absolute snooze fest. Drake “The Schedule” Maye did not impress me at all. On the other hand I think Seattle might have two legit quarterbacks on their hands. Drew Lock proved he can definitely do a little bit more than rapping on the sidelines. In a week with such high powered offenses though, this game was not a tone setter. I think the Seahawks will be fine with Sam Darnold out and for betting I think I will keep placing bets on them till they prove me wrong and get beaten by a team.
      • For bets on this game I took
        • Drake “The Schedule” Maye over 229.5 passing yards
          • Lost
        • Rhamondre Stevenson anytime tuddy
          • lost
        • Seahawks – 3
          • push
        • AJ Brown 5+ 1 quarter receiving yards
          • won
        • AJ Brown or JSN to score a tuddy
          • won ( Thanks Macafee Crew)
        • Romeo Doubs over 25 receiving yards
          • epic loss
  • 49ers VS Rams
    • This one felt like a better kick off game than the Pats game, but still I wasn’t a big fan of it. The 49ers did play pretty well and at this point it kind of just feels like they own the Rams. Happy to not have to hear about which team traveled better for the Aussie kick off game any more though. Lastly as a Bucs fan I was a little sad to see Evans on a different team, but he showed a lot of promise there and I will guarantee he is in for another 1,000+ yard season if he can stay healthy. For betting I’m gonna avoid the Rams for their next matchup to see where things stand on that team & the 49ers will remain dependent on their opposition
      • Bets on this game I took
        • (2 pick parlay) Over 48.5 points & CMC to get over 25 receiving yards
          • Terrible Loss ( not one leg hit)
        • CMC 1st quarter reception
          • win
        • Mike Evans First TD scorer
          • Loss (it was close though)
  • Saints VS Lions
    • What started off as a snooze fest turned into a great game at the end, which ended up giving us some extra football. Tyler Shough might be a real quarterback in the NFL. Which I didn’t have much faith in because of my Wildcats bias. I misvalued him and in turn misvalued the Saints receivers. I was lucky enough to have Olave in my auction league though in which he was a key contributor to the win. I’m not sure what happened to the Lions in the second half, they seemed to take their foot off the gas and let the Saints back into it. Lastly I like the call to go for two by the Saints in overtime there, had they got it they would’ve walked out of there with a game that they stole from a better team.
  • Bucs Vs Bengals
    • Tough game for me. Bucs fan by heart, but the Bengals are my AFC team so either way one of my two favorite teams are starting off with an L. I thought Baker looked tough. 3 fumbles is pathetic. Feels like the Bucs gave that game away more than it feels like the Bengals won it. Not to discredit the Bengals at all, honestly it looks like they may have a defense this year. Well at least a defense that can cause some turnovers, it still felt like it was pretty easy for the Bucs to move the ball down the field. The last thing I didn’t like about this game was Jamar Chase’s production. I wasted the 3rd pick on that guy and he goes out and gives me 3.2 points… IN A LEAGUE WHERE I LOST BY 1 POINT.
      • Bets on this game
        • Bucs Money Line
          • big loss
  • Ravens VS Colts
    • If the Ravens go out and play the way they did against the colts against every team I don’t think there is a team in the NFL that can beat them. Hopefully it wasn’t a fluke for them, but hopefully it was for everyone else. I don’t see three guys having career days all on the same day again happening for them every game, but it may be possible in that offense. The colts should bounce back though and I think they have a decent squad as well, I think they just got out matched week 1.
  • Browns VS Jaguars
    • The Browns suck and so does Watson. Jaguars offense looks pretty strong too. Hopefully that’s not just because they were playing the worst team in football though.
  • Jets VS Titans
    • The Titans suck and I expected more from this team. Went on a limb and took Tate in one of my leagues and that pairing of him and Chase was not a good duo for week one. It’s surprising I only lost by a point. I think the Jets might be a little bit better than last year and I was happy to see Hall get into the endzone. I drafted him in a league as well so hoping on a better season for him than the past couple of years. It was just the Titans in week one though, still gotta see more before I know if I screwed myself or not.
  • Bills VS Texans
    • I know every white girl in the world is happy to see Josh Allen win and honestly so am I. This was a great win for the Bills, and honestly I didn’t expect it. Josh Allen looks to be the same Fantasy stud he always has been and it makes me nervous for my match up next week going against him. I feel bad for anyone who drafted the Texans defense in week one, but I think they will bounce back and be one of the best fantasy D/ST just how they have been every year since Demico Ryans.
  • Falcons VS Steelers
    • I don’t think either of these teams will be much different than the teams they were last year, and this game went to show that. Falcons got to get someone to throw the ball. I don’t think Tua will be that guy, but we will see. Steelers defense is legit and I think that will be the case whether or not JPJ gets on the field this season or not. With that all being said I wont bet on the Falcons this season unless they show me something. For the steelers, I’m not sure why I feel this way. Give me a sneaky upset against the PATS next week.
  • Bears VS Panthers
    • What a shootout! Happy to have had Swift on my team this week. Happier that I ended up starting him over Tuten in a last second decision. The Bears offense is scary. Also it pains me to say this, but the panthers might have the best offense in the NFC south. I like taking both of these teams in their respective overs until proven wrong for the future.
  • Packers VS Vikings
    • Two takeaways from this game. Carson Wentz is the best QB on that team. Lastly the packers are the greatest choke job of a team we have seen in a while.
  • Dolphins VS Raiders
    • Only take I have on this game is that the Dolphins suck and might not win a game this year. Will need to see the Raiders play an actual football team. Feels like they got a bye week on week one.
  • Cardinals VS Chargers
    • The Cardinals got a ball team and good for them for proving all the haters wrong. I like their offense a lot, seems like a lot of weapons. Also their coach might just be that guy, hearing how he has talked about his team and got them ready has really impressed me. The chargers will bounce back from this, but I’m definitely disappointed in their first performance and will take some space on them before i place any bets on this team again.
  • Commanders VS Eagles
    • Wasn’t too impressed with this game. The only thing i can remeber about it now is the Diggs unsportsmanlike penalty which JD said could’ve cost them the game. I think the NFC East will be a very competitive division this year and wouldn’t be surprised if all the teams in there split their games in half.
  • Cowgirls VS Giants
    • My statement at the end of the last entry stands true. One thing to add about that though is that the Giants might have an edge in this division. Not because of talent, I’d probably still give that edge to the Eagles. Its because of Harbaugh and the football he brought to this team. The two guys that followed him to New York looked great. Likely looked phenomenal and I see him having a productive year. Also Ricard the fullback, Just going out there hitting dudes. Id be terrified as a defender seeing that 300lb beast running at me.
  • Chiefs VS Broncos
    • Pains me to say it, but the Chiefs are back and are the team to beat in the AFC West. K9 proved why he was the Super Bowl MVP and ran all over what I thought was a decent Broncos defense. Not sure how long the Broncos are gonna go without Peyton calling the plays, but whether he’s calling them or not, I expect this team to bounce back, and I’m not buying into the Bo Nix worry train quite yet.
